Only a few close friends, and my family knows that I have been on seizure medicine for the past 8 years of my life. Yes, 4 months before my wedding, I had to get on seizure med..Not stressful at all, right!? Basically, I hit my head on a glass sliding door (Wayne's apt) and two days later I was dx with a concussion and later that day I passed out (my Mom was there, Thank Goodness) and she said I had a seizure. I had tests done, and the Neuro dr. said I had a "glitch" in my brain and needed to be on med. Since I was in the medical field at the time, I was very leery. But, I finally went on it. I had two more EEG's during the 8 year span, and it said the same thing.
My new yellow brick road is because I found a new neuro dr.who is the "wizard"...My other dr. in ft. worth retired, my next one in plano quit seeing pts. So then this one has been awesome! We went in May, and he spent an hour with Wayne and I. He didn't just say stuff I wanted to hear, he told facts/and data (Which Wayne really liked). I did a 48 hour EEG at home, so the electrodes were placed on my head and I was wrapped like a mummy!
I went back this past Friday, and it took the Dr. 6 hours to read it. He said he saw no glitches or seizure activity. But, is that because I am already on SEZ. med? That is the VEGAS ? as he puts it! He feels like I can taper off of it, and come off and see how I do. I am not an epileptic, or have grand mal, etc.
So by 6-25 I will be completely off my sez. med, and praying I don't have any. But in the past 8 years I haven't had any, so I really don't think I will.
The other thing is I have bad migraines, and he thinks I am a good candidate for the now FDA approved Botox injections for migraines! I need to see if INS. will cover...I am leery of it, but he said pts. will not have any for 3 months!
ALL of this is progressing toward what Wayne and I will hope to be family planning soon!!!!!!!!!!! Like in the next couple of months we want to start trying! So around Aug. or Sept we pray! :)
I always knew there was a yellow brick road.....:)
