I have always thought of myself as a giving person. I hardly ever buy myself anything (lately I have bought some stuff, Thanks Wayne!) but for the most part I LOVE buying stuff for people. The other day I looked at the Wylie news online and it announced the 09 Wylie H.S Seniors Birmingham Scholars. One of them was a girl that lives behind us!
Here is some background and why I have decided to give this girl a Target gift card for her graduation!

She is one of SEVEN kids! Yes, SEVEN! Her Dad works till like 7 at night, and works Saturdays and is off Sun-Mon. I found out a couple of years after moving in our house, that their Mom passed away years back from lung cancer. When I heard this, it broke heart. A widowed Dad with seven kids, working, etc...I can't imagine
Today, I saw the Dad drive up from work, and I went over and talked to him. I introduced myself (sad I know, almost 4 years since we have been in our house) and asked him if that was his oldest daughter in the paper. He said "Yea, that was her." I asked if she was going to college and this is the BEST part..He goes " Oh yea, a full ride scholarship to North Texas". I said "Wow, that is excellent!" I said "Well, I just wanted to asked you something, but I wanted to get her a gift
card from Target for graduation, and she can buy stuff for her dorm room." He said "Oh my, you are so sweet!" "But yea, that would be fine".

I am really excited to do this for her, and I know that we don't know them that well, but we see the kids outside all the time, have bought fundraising stuff from them, and I just feel like these kids have had to go through so much. For this girl, to do so well in school, and be going to college, while having to help practically raise her brothers and sisters, this truly is an accomplishment for her.
I love the gift of giving!!
